How can I install subtitles into a movie I downloaded on Limewire?

I downloaded a movie "Sword of the Stranger" off Limewire, It has a subtitle folder but when i tried to play it in my DivX or Windows Media player I could not make the subtitles come onscreen, if your going to say put the subtitle folder into the same directory as the player, well I have no idea what that means. Thanks in advance for you help.

1. If you have a divx file, you can easily download the file from the internet. Chuck the windows player and get a better player like vlc (It can play almost all available video formats). It is available for free too. 1. Download VLC 2. Download the subtitles of the film from http://www.opensubtitles.org/ 3. Extract the subtitles to get a srt file. 4. Open the video with vlc and give the path to the subtitle. 5. Enjoy the movie.
